Search

I am searching ,

For a book or scroll or pile of papers

From the ancient times

Scripted by ancestors

Complied by society

I hunt for the book containing

All the norms to be followed

Teaching us the right and the wrong

Guides us to abide by the old path created

Criticizing the change

But they tend to forget that the old paths were made by change someday

Where are those ancient yellow pages?

Which differentiate people on their colour or gender

Which specifies different religions

When god is one

And we are one

My exploration is on

 To burn the book which

Instills the prominent fear in our minds

“Of what society will say”

  1. Unique, very unique concept of criticizing society on the basis and the points u made… Though i have read many blogs about the same but this blog kept me engaging in the format you chose to discuss for the revolution of thinking.

    Acknowledging that this piece is a result of a challenge, I am going to assume that it still represents your thoughts and perspectives;

The book you are looking for is within you. You already know right from wrong. What you do not know is why things changed to be as they are today. While it would be really beneficial to understand the changes such that they can be reversed, is it necessary to understand? If we water a plant, it will grow. Do we need to understand what happens within the plant for that to happen? We know that it is possible to put a man on the moon. Do we need to understand the science behind such a venture?

If you can use your life to influence change in areas of mutual tolerance, compassion, sharing etc. etc., then what more could you possibly want? This can be done without understanding the past.

I know but I am not saying just about myself. There are times when we think twice to do something because we think what society will say. There are times when we are forced to think about the path we follow. But yes it does depends on us till some point.

      1. colinandray says:

Good points. As I recently mentioned on another blog, we can chose to ignore society and display our total independence (which probably means living a very isolated life), or we can allow society to dictate our life (which erases your uniqueness). Somewhere between those two extremes is your “sweet spot”. The challenge that we all face is to find that balance where we are expressing our uniqueness and yet staying within social guidelines.

      2. Saloni says:

Yeah we have to balance both. We have to be unique that too with society. Thats why we have to forget the norms we follow and adapt with new environment.
